摘要

•Commercial TiO2 and ZnO are successfully decorated with Au NPs by photodeposition.•Au decoration improves the photocatalytic degradation of NO and generates less NO2.•Au NPs induce higher charge separation and hydroxyl radical generation.•Au/ZnO material has a high activity and selectivity under low UV-A irradiation.•Au/ZnO material shows higher photocatalytic performance than TiO2 P25.
