Investigation on evaluation of Fe3S4-Carbon black nanohybrids for EMI shield in X-band region

The magnitude of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) in open and indoor spaces is on the rise at a fast pace as humans are on the run for wireless technologies everywhere on the globe. Wireless systems have taken over almost every sector of technology and are an integral part of our society. As wireless systems rely on electro-magnetic radiations of different wavelengths depending on the field of application, these EMR interfere with instruments and affect human health adversely. Thus, it is essential to develop electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials to reduce or prevent EMR pollution. In the current work, nanostructured Fe3S4, CB, and Fe3S4-CB nanohybrids (2:1, 1:1 and 1:2) matrix were fabricated by solvothermal reaction, analyzed for physi-cochemical properties, and studied for EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) test. The combination of the Fe3S4-CB (1:2) ratio showed an excellent dielectric and magnetic performance and also exhibited a SE of 51.74 dB (99.999 % of shielding with a penetration depth of approximate to 0.8 mm) compared to pristine Fe3S4, CB, and other hybrids.
