The NOSL-296 high resolution 14N216O line list for atmospheric applications

•NOSL-296 is a high-resolution absorption line list for nitrous oxide (14N216O) for atmospheric applications.•NOSL-296 is a calculated line list based on the effective operator approach.•Non-polyad effective dipole moment parameters are determined from an exhaustive review of intensity measurements available in the literature.•NOSL-296 reproduces most measurements with accuracy consistent with measurement uncertainties.•Comparisons of NOSL-296 with Ames-296 and HITRAN2020 are discussed.
