•B-leader mismatch was associated with significantly higher nonrelapse mortality (NRM) and a trend towards poor overall survival (OS) in parent and sibling haploidentical donor groups.•HLA-A mismatch was associated with a lower risk of acute graft-versus-host disease (haploidentical sibling) and lower NRM and better progression-free survival and OS (parent donors).•Among non-HLA donor factors, female donors did not have an adverse effect on any outcome.
