A Recommendation Ubiquitous System to Personalize Diet for Children with Obesity

Childhood obesity is a serious health condition that affects children and adolescents, whose rates are worryingly high in European countries, mainly affected in Mediterranean countries. Education, following and monitoring the children with obesity by means of technology reduces the impact of this affection. In this work, we describe a smart and ubiquitous recommendation system to personalise the diet of children. First, it is mainly composed of a wearable activity tracker connected to a mobile application which determines the daily burned calories and provides basic information of daily habits and menu description to children with obesity. Second, an intelligent recommendation of diet is proposed which includes the next components: i) a recommended consumption calories per day using fuzzy logic and ii) a food heuristics for greedy search of personalised menus. A case study with a real food database developed by nutritionists for generating weekly menus using the recommendation of diet is presented.
