Hybrid Method for Calculating Eddy Current Loss in Permanent Magnet with Axial Segment of IPMSM

In this paper, a hybrid method for calculating permanent magnet (PM) eddy current loss (PMECL) of interior PM synchronous motor (IPMSM) is proposed. PMECL in axial segmented PM of IPMSM driven by pulse width modulation inverter is calculated through a combination of two-dimensional finite element method and analytical method. Using the proposed procedure, PMECL of axial segmented PM is analyzed by operating point and the number of axial segments of PM.
