Diagnosis of Single-phase Grounding Fault Section in Distribution Network on Zero Sequence Energy

Abstract
In the engineering application of distribution network fault location system, it is necessary to determine the fault section firstly. According to the gradual attenuation characteristics of fault signal energy in transmission, the paper puts forward a method of diagnosing fault section by comprehensively using voltage and current signal. Firstly, the core position adjacent to the fault position with the largest transient energy amplitude is selected by comparing the zero-sequence transient energy amplitude intensity of each measuring position. Secondly, the transient energy characteristics of core position are analyzed when the fault position is located outside or inside of the measurement area. Furthermore, the transient energy difference between the core position and adjacent position is deducted. Finally, the fault section can be confirmed by using the transient energy difference between the core position and adjacent position. The simulation analysis of 10kV distribution network demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of this method.
