Redox-responsive engineered hybrid nanomedicine for gallbladder cancer therapy via hyaluronic acid depletion

•A paclitaxel-loaded and hyaluronidase-modified organosilica hybrid nanomedicine (named as PTX@PDHNs-HAase) with GSH-responsive property is facilely synthesized.•Owing to the specific depletion of HA, HAase modification is demonstrated to improve the permeability of the nanomedicine in an in vitro simulated ECM model.•The GSH responsiveness and HAase-mediated penetration enhancement of the nanomedicine contribute to the improved chemotherapeutic efficacy of PTX in GBC tumors.
