An Ultra-Wideband Microstrip Slot Antenna based on Metasurface

In this paper, an ultra-wideband (UWB) low-profile antenna based on metasurface structure is proposed. The antenna consists of two layers of substrates, a wide slot (WS) and a microstrip feedline. The introduction of the metasurface structure generates a new resonance point of the antenna at higher frequencies. At the same time, slotting the microstrip feedline makes the impedance match better. Simulation results indicate that the proposed antenna attains a 98.47% impedance bandwidth (3.31GHz-9.73GHz). With a size of 54mm×54mm × 3.7mm the maximum gain of the whole band is 7.3dBi and the −3dB gain bandwidth is from 4.79GHz to 9.7GHz.
