Ship Type Optimization in Waves Using the Surrogate Model

This paper developed an approximate ship type optimization method in waves to obtain the optimal ship hull in actual sea conditions. The sample points is obtained by Opt LHD method. The CFD method is used to calculate the total resistance and heave and pitch transfer functions of the DTMB5512 ship. The RBF model is used as the approximate model which is trained using the sample points. Finally, the multi-objective ship hull optimization method is presented using the RBF and MOPSO methods. The optimization results show that the current optimization method can obtain the optimal ship hull with the smallest total resistance and heave and pitch transfer functions.
