Segmented Adaptive Control of Virtual Inertia for Virtual Synchronous Machines

In order to improve the frequency dynamic response of microgrid, the inertia adaptive control strategy of the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is proposed. When the system frequency deviates from the nominal frequency, the VSG adopts large inertia to slow down the dynamic process. When the system frequency approaches the nominal frequency, the VSG uses a small inertial acceleration system to return to the rated state. However, most adaptive virtual inertial control strategies contain differential quantities causing the system to oscillate easily. In this paper, a segmented adaptive virtual inertia regulation method is proposed to avoid the effect of high-frequency noise, while considering the energy storage of the system and the frequency impact on the grid, which improves the safety and reliability of the virtual synchronous machine to the grid. Finally, the effectiveness of the control strategy is verified by simulation.
