High-Performance Miniaturized Quad T/R Module for X-band Low-Profile AESA

This paper presents the design and development of a highly integrated high-performance quad-pack transmit/receive (T/R) module for X-band phased array radar applications. The proposed tile-type module uses low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) and printed circuit board (PCB) technology, and solderless fuzz button interconnects to reduce module size and weight. It is compact in size (30x30x20mm(3)) with integrated power and control board and has a weight of 8.5 gr per channel. The prototype module exhibits more than 20W output power in transmit mode and it has a noise figure (NF) below 2.6 dB in X-band.
