Abstract
The article deals with municipal waste management updated in migration processes changes. The retrospective of the best practices for all types of waste management methods is analyzed. The ways to satisfy the customer’s needs in a highly competitive and global economic environment are described. The factors influencing the structure of municipal waste are outlined. Based on the results of statistical data analysis for 2012-2020, the authors concluded about relative stability of the amount of waste collected in European countries. The authors discuss potential opportunities for the development of entrepreneurship in Ukraine aimed at obtaining secondary resources. The authors conducted a cluster analysis based on the use of hierarchical agglomeration methods which allowed grouping countries by their proximity to waste management policies in terms of waste generation and management. New challenges on the way for Ukraine to meet its committed targets to transform the waste management system to become in full accordance with those implemented in the European Union are clarified. The indicator of increased level of the load on the waste management system of the countries that received temporarily displaced persons from Ukraine is calculated. The results demonstrate that in the conditions of war in Ukraine the increase in the number of temporarily displaced persons in European countries will affect the change in the amount and structure of waste. The research results would permit a deeper understanding that Ukrainians are relatively more adaptable to unpredictable external challenges and the existing sensitivity of Ukraine’s waste management system to possible external risks.
