•We first focused on SLE and AS from the bioinformatics perspective.•Five genes were chosen as the biomarkers for predicting the risk of AS with SLE.•The ROC curve as well as the nomogram was constructed for clinical use.•The dysregulated immune cell proportions and three immune subtypes were identified.
