Evaluation of Spatial Distribution Characteristics of the Importance of Eecological land in Xining City

Abstract
Taking the fragile ecological environment of Xining city as an example, three major ecosystem service functions, including water conservation, soil conservation and biodiversity conservation, were selected to establish a model and method for assessing the importance of ecological land for Xining city. The weight was determined by variation coefficient method.the importance of ecological land was divided into four grades of extreme importance, medium importance, comparative importance and general importance, to evaluated the importance and spatial distribution characteristics of ecological land of Xining city from the perspective of ecological land protection. The results showed that the water conservation was dominated by important areas, accounting for 49.64%, and its importance gradually decreased from southeast to northwest according to the distance from the river system and the distribution of precipitation. Soil conservation was also dominated by more important areas, accounting for 55.64 %. The more sensitive the soil erosion is and the higher the vegetation coverage is, the higher the importance level of soil conservation function is. The biodiversity protection was mainly in medium important areas, accounting for 46.34%. The spatial distribution of the importance of biodiversity protection was positively correlated with the vegetation coverage. The comprehensive evaluation results showed that the area of important ecological land was the largest, accounting for 54.52% of the ecological land, mainly distributed in the south of the eastern district of the city, in the northwest of the western district of the city, in Yaozhuang village, Xiahudandu village, Mohe village of Huangyuan county, and Qingshan township of Datong county.
