Abstract
The paper originally presents a wireless AC power monitoring module by integrating voltage and current sensors with a WeMos D1 mini WiFi module and shows the visualization of voltage, current, electric power and energy, power factor (pf), and frequency. First, both voltage and current sensors are integrated with ATMega 328 MCU to provide voltage and current readings for AC power system. And the corresponding values of instantaneous power, electric energy, and pf are directly programmed based on the well-known AC power formulas. Then, the all AC power parameters are sent to the ESP8266 WiFi module through Tx/Rx interface and a WiFi network, and finally are displayed in the ThingSpeak IoT platform. Both accuracy and confidence of the developed AC power monitoring module are evaluated with two DM-9960 digital multi-meters (DMM) with the similarity level over 99%. The visualization of AC electric parameters in the public channel of ThingSpeak available online for monitoring AC power distribution box of the office of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, Da-Yeh University in Taiwan further validates the durability of the proposed system. The results illustrate the proposed wireless AC power monitoring system has been validated with sufficient accuracy and confidence for in-situ monitoring AC power system.
