Abstract
This paper proposes a TDMA noise-immune DC-DC boost converter with a dead-time controller for AMOLED displays to improve power efficiency and to supply a stable output voltage for AMOLED displays. The dead-time controller detects rising and falling dead time using a dead-time pulse generator to minimize the dead time of a P-N power transistor. The converter has a TDMA noise-reduction circuit to reduce the output voltage fluctuation when TDMA noise comes in. The proposed DC-DC boost converter was designed using a 0.18 μm BCDMOS process. Simulation results show that the boost converter has an output voltage of 4.6 V for an input voltage range of 2.9 V to 4.4 V and reduces the undershoot by 8 mV and overshoot by 5 mV. In addition, the power efficiency is 43% to 95% for a load current range of 1 mA to 100 mA.
