Impact of Perception Errors on Sensing Assisted Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communications

In this paper, we investigate the connectivity performance of sensing-assisted vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications for connected and automated vehicles. The connectivity performance is evaluated in terms of the communication success probability p s by taking into account the beam misalignment between the transceiver pairs. Here the beam misalignment is mainly caused by vehicle perception errors. We focus on investigating the trade-offs between p s and transmitter intensity around the communication pair, communication range, beam-width and the vehicle perception errors. In general, increasing the transmitter intensity, V2V communication range and large perception errors decrease success probability. While beam-width affects p s differently for different active transmitter intensities.
