Cloud ERP Implementation Using Edge Computing

With the introduction of new technologies and new web architectures, traditional Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has evolved into cloud ERP to target greater customer base and efficient business strategies. ERP implementations into the cloud has become a common practice for many businesses. There are contradicting factors of cloud ERP in-terms of high latency, heavy computation tasks and low bandwidth. Therefore, edge computing together with cloud ERP is the key ingredient that will cater for latency, partial workload balancing and bandwidth issues together with faster throughput. This paper gives an insight on cloud ERP and its challenges, based on which an Edge ERP model combining edge computing and cloud ERP platform is proposed.
