Domestic refrigerators: An overlooked breeding ground of antibiotic resistance genes and pathogens

•A large number of ARGs and MGEs (21–134) were detected in three typical foods.•The highest abundance of ARGs was found in fish, followed by pork and vegetable.•The ARG abundances increased with storage time and were changed by food types.•Four bacterial pathogens and some fungal pathogens were found under cold storage.•The shifts of ARG pattern were contributed by bacterial communities and MGEs.
