Abstract
Ocean-meteorological buoys are floating structures deployed in the ocean for sampling different parameters of the marine environment. Adequate choice of the buoy's characteristics, depending on the environmental conditions in the anchorage area, is an essential requirement for anticipating its evolution in both standard and extreme conditions, as well as, the estimation of wave characteristics is essential for the calculation of the probability of buoy survival under extreme conditions. This paper presents a novel method for simulating the evolution of a single buoy, one of the best tools for hydrodynamic diffraction modelling in offshore structures. To obtain the best results, the specific conditions in the Romanian Black Sea shelf were taken into account, especially the wave and wind regime.
