A 10MHz 2mA-800mA 0.5V-1.5V 90% peak efficiency time-based buck converter with seamless transition between PWM/PFM modes

摘要
We present a 10MHz buck converter with enhanced light load efficiency achieved by combining time-based PWM control with PFM. The proposed seamless transition technique provides additional degree of freedom to extend high efficiency regime across a wider range of load current. Fabricated in a 65nm CMOS, the prototype achieves 90% peak efficiency and > 80% efficiency over ILOAD range of 2mA to 800mA. VO changes by less than 40mV during PWM to PFM transitions.
