•An enhanced consensus in Blockchain Technology for Industry 4.0 uses is presented.•A new consensus for DPoR-based Blockchain is designed by extending PageRank algorithm using CAs.•A new algorithm is presented for a cost-effective computation of reputation score. iv. Low energy consumption is ensured in presented model.•Detailed dynamics are examined to explore its cost-effective modeling capability.
