Multiport Equivalent Circuits of Turbogenerators

Two-axis models of turbogenerators are discussed in this paper with the aim to improve modeling of rotor damping effects. According to the recommendation of IEEE Standards high-order models are commonly used for that purpose. In such models the damping elements in a rotor and the rotor body are represented by a set of short circuited windings. The equivalent schemes of high-order models for the `d' and `q' axes, respectively, have the form of ladder circuits with numerous parallel branches. In the paper alternative equivalent circuits are proposed in the form of multiport circuits, which can model more efficient a set of magnetically coupled windings.
