A Dual Output Converter with PV-Energy Storage System for DC Home

The DC home concept is attracting the modern world with the evolution of the microgrid approach. Thus, a suitable converter capable of integrating the renewable energy source (RES) and energy storage system (ESS) with fewer components has the research scope in this specific area. In light of this, a converter is derived from the conventional buck and a buck-boost converter by adopting the synchronous switch conception. The detailed steps that have been taken to derive the proposed dual output converter (DOC) with photovoltaic (PV) and an ESS have been discussed in this paper. The proposed converter generates dual outputs of 24 V and 48 V from a PV source and ESS, suitable for DC home applications. A control technique is proposed for the DOC to perform both maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and output voltage regulation in the single converter without any complex approach or circuit. Finally, the operation of the proposed system is verified with the help of simulation results.
