Current Transfer Length in Quasi-isotropic Strand Made from REBCO Tapes Under Transverse Pressures

In recent years, the REBCO tapes have a broad development prospect in the application of large high field magnets. The current transfer length (CTL) and electrical contacts between two REBCO tapes, or between superconductor tape and terminal are crucial parameters for the reliability of the device. In this paper, the experimental module for applying transverse pressures to the quasi-isotropic strand (Q-IS) is designed firstly. The CTL of the Q-IS at 77 K under different transverse pressures are measured on the built experimental bench. At the same time, the CTL of Q-IS is calculated by the finite element analysis method, which is consistent with the experimental results.
