•Therapeutic vaccination targeting EBV-antigens is an emerging treatment modality.•Dendritic cell and virus-based vaccines have led the field into early stage trials.•Clinical data show that vaccines can enhance targeted immune responses to EBV-NPC.•Ongoing trials will provide more detail on clinical efficacy of these vaccines.
