•SSD patients display cortical hypoperfusion, especially in the fronto-limbic area.•Fronto-temporal hypoperfusion is associated with negative symptoms.•On the other hand, subcortical structures such as the putamen are hyperperfused.•Positive symptoms are positively correlated with rCBF in subcortical regions.
