•Proposed generalized cryptographic image processing approaches using integer-series transformation for solar power optimization.•The correlation scatter plots, histogram analysis, and encryption quality metrics are used to assess the performance of the proposed approaches.•The proposed strategies are tested for symmetrical and asymmetrical array sizes under 24 various shading conditions.•The performance of the proposed approaches is compared with the 20 existing methodologies.•The experimental hardware setup of the proposed configurations has been developed for a 4 × 4 PV array and investigated outdoors and in the indoor laboratory under various conditions.
