Research on Rapid Thermal Balance Technology of Fiber Coil

According to Sagnac theory, the bias error caused by temperature gradient during the start-up process of fiber optic gyroscope is calculated. Then three fiber coil models with different conditions are established: using ordinary adhesive, using ordinary adhesive doped with graphene, using flexible material made from graphene which is placed between the layers of fiber coil. Finally, the models are simulated and analyzed by finite element method. The results of simulation show that, the fiber coil using flexible material made from graphene placed between the layers has some advantages. It can increase pyroconductivity of fiber coil. This method shortens the start-up time, so the precision of fiber optic gyroscope is improved. In the experiment, three fiber coils were wound according to the three conditions. The test results show that the bias stability of fiber optic gyroscope is improved from the original 0.0153°/h to 0.006°/h. Adding flexible material made from graphene placed between the layers provides a new idea for the design of high-quality fiber coil.
