Abstract
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the prominent technology during industrial revolution 4.0 in.Indonesia. Due to its increased use in construction projects, introducing BIM to civil engineering (CE) undergraduate students is essential. However, the current BIM implementation in Indonesian universities is still not known. Hence, this study aims to explore the current state, opportunities, and challenges of BIM implementation in CE undergraduate programs in Indonesian universities. A questionnaire was spread to faculty members of CE programs. The results stated that BIM is highly needed due to government policy and market trends. Currently, BIM implementation is limited to guest lecture and BIM software workshop. Some challenges to be tackled, that is, lack of lecturers’ capability and facility availability. Respondents stated that BIM could be developed into the civil engineering curriculum as a course or as a new specialization. Therefore, BIM educational framework with clear learning outcomes could be developed.
