Abstract
•Reaction characteristics of a single coal particle flame for different coal ranks were studied.•Flame structures for three coal ranks at different oxygen concentration (Xi,O2) were obtained.•Na* and K* in single coal particle flames with different reaction stages were analyzed.•Alkalis alkali metal spectral intensity was feasible to calculate flame temperature.
