Abstract
In this paper, a Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) applied to distribution-synchronous series compensator (D-SSSC) based on the cascaded H-bridge (CHB) converter is introduced. The proposed FLC provides proper operation of the control system of SSSC during the nonlinear conditions of the power system which are unavoidable in the transmissions and distribution lines especially due to the characteristics of new power systems which are being more popular. The proposed control strategy uses a novel operation mode identification to provide a proper response considering common nonlinearities in the power system. Both the conventional control method and the proposed control method have been applied to a distribution network via MATLAB/SIMULINK (R). The results validated that SSSC properly could control power flow in distribution lines accurately despite the dynamic nonlinearities of the power system.
