Functionalized gold nanomaterials in the detection of bacterial translocation in patients with acute intestinal obstruction

Abstract
This study was to explore the effect of functionalized gold nanomaterials (FGNM) on the detection of bacterial translocation (BT) in patients with acute intestinal obstruction (AIO). In this study, 90 AIO patients were selected and divided into a blank group (group B), a control group (group C), and an experimental group (group E) for surgical treatment. The BT was detected by traditional methods, tissue bacterial culture (TBC) method, and FGNM method. The results showed that the positive detection rate (PTR) of BT in lymph node in the group C and group E was obviously higher than that in group B ( P < 0.05); compared with the group B and C, the serum interleukin-10 (IL-10) concentration of group E was much higher ( P < 0.05), while there was no visible difference between the IL-10 concentration in group B and C ( P > 0.05); the expression of serum transforming growth factor β (TGF-β1) in group C and E was higher obviously in contrast to that of group B ( P < 0.05). In short, the FGNM could achieve high sensitivity and accuracy in detecting the PTR of BT in AIO patients. The accuracy of tissue and blood detection was higher in contrast to that of the traditional detection methods. Therefore, it was worth applying the FGNM in the detection of BT in AIO patients.
