摘要
Damping of power oscillations is an important aspect of system stability and becomes especially significant in the context of renewable energies and power system expansions. In order to damp such oscillation modes various concepts of power oscillation damping (POD) have been developed. Until now mainly PSS controllers added to AVR controllers have been used to serve the purpose of POD. Since there will be less conventional plants there will also be less "conventional POD-controllers". That is why other possibilities of power oscillation damping e.g. POD with FACTScontrollers gain increasing attention. This paper presents a descriptive analysis of a typical POD-controller based on Bode plots and explains how to optimize POD-controllers empirically. Moreover this paper shows simulation results regarding optimal placement and parametrization of a FACTS-POD-controller implemented for damping of inter-areaoscillations corresponding to provision of damping power in an environment of renewable energies. The results show that deviation from optimal parametrization reduces the damping effect of the FACTS-controller significantly while deviation from the ideal placement does up to a certain extent not affect the impact of the controller.
