Flexible ramping product Implementation in power market with high penetration of renewable energy

With the development of power system, the problem of system flexibility is gradually attracting attention. Flexible ramping products (FRPs) can improve the flexibility of power grid and relieve the stress caused by the volatility of renewable energy. China's power market has insufficient flexibility mainly provided by traditional units. In this regard, basic concept of FRPs is first introduced. Then five promising flexible resources are discussed. Finally, based on the power market development of China, implementation paths including types, participation mechanism and pricing mechanism of FRPs are proposed with a case study.
