Bifurcaria bifurcata activated carbon for the adsorption enhancement of Acid Orange 7 and Basic Red 5 dyes: Kinetics, equilibrium and thermodynamics investigations
Energy Nexus(2022)
Abstract
•CMBB@H2SO4 derived from the valorization of Bifurcaria bifurcata algae and exhibited efficient removal of AO7 and BR5 dyes at economic conditions.•Pseudo-second-order kinetic model well described the adsorption of AO7 and BR5.•Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms fitted well the adsorption of AO7 and BR5, respectively.•The adsorption process was thermodynamically spontaneous, exothermic for AO7 and endothermic for BR5.•CMBB@H2SO4 would be of great interest in wastewater treatment applications.
