Perception on PSO, Fuzzy and Fuzzy-PID for Water Level Control of Coupled Tank System

Abstract
Pharmaceutical industries have always faced problem with level control in coupled tank. This paper illustrates study of different optimization techniques like PSO, Fuzzy logic controller and Fuzzy coordinated PID controller. It gives a brief perception on how PSO works and the algorithm for the technique to execute. PSO being a meta-heuristic method based on actual behaviour of animals to reach an objective does iterations to find the best possible solution. Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is an intelligent optimization technique which works between extreme maximum and minimum range in terms of membership functions. FLC shows a fast and improved simulation response for coupled tank system. FLC when combined with PID controller shows smooth steady state response without any overshoot and oscillations. Settling time and integral square error are eventually improved. This paper can be utilized to discover a new Fuzzy-PSO technique for better results in future.
