A 94% High ηRF–DC Rectifier Design for Wireless Power Transfer Applications

This paper presents a rectifier working in the ultra-wideband frequency range and presents two different matching network topologies to perform a comparative analysis. The proposed single-stage voltage doubler rectifier circuit with a butterfly stub-based matching network can achieve a wide bandwidth of 2.7 GHz from 4.6 – 7.3 GHz achieving a maximum PCE of 94% for 10 dBm input power at 6 GHz frequency. The rectifier circuit with a lumped elements-based matching network is also able to achieve a wide bandwidth of 1.8 GHz from 5.0 – 6.8 GHz frequency yielding a PCE of 91% for the same frequency and input power. The rectifier circuit with the matching networks had significantly improved results in comparison to the rectifier circuit without the matching network which had less than 500 MHz bandwidths for multiple frequencies in the frequency range of 3.4 – 8.1 GHz.
