Morphological dissection and analysis of the zebrafish retina as a novel tool to study diabetic retinopathy

Pericyte dropout, an early sign of retinal diabetic microvascular complications, can be quantified using the retinal trypsin digest protocol. Zebrafish have recently come into focus as a model organism to study diabetic complications, however, the zebrafish retina has not been analysed using the trypsin digest preparation.
