While BP 120-140/80-90mmHg at <20 weeks is associated with heightened risk of preeclampsia and adverse pregnancy outcomes, and may contribute to risk prediction in multivariable modelling, lowering the diagnostic threshold for chronic hypertension would not assist clinicians in identifying women at heightened risk.
