Po-688-06 risk of adverse cardiac events in patients with moderately reduced ejection fraction following permanent pacemaker implant

Many patients with mild to moderately reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) that require permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation do not have a concurrent indication for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) therapy. However, high-risk patients may benefit from upfront placement of an ICD, given that they will already be exposed to the procedural and ongoing risk associated with an indwelling electronic device.
