A Novel Modeling Framework for Decentralized Supervisory Control of Discrete Event Systems with Communication Delays and Losses

In this paper, a novel modeling framework for decentralized supervisory control of discrete-event systems (DES) subject to random communication delays and losses is presented. We assume that each local supervisor is connected to the plant via an independent observation channel, and the control commands issued by each supervisor are delivered to the fusion site via an independent control channel. Communication delays and losses exist in both the observation channels and the control channels. We model and analyze how each local supervisor interacts with the plant and the fusion site under communication delays and losses. Compared with the previous framework, the language of the co-supervised system specified in our framework is more accurate. Furthermore, in contrast to existing results, our framework considers communication losses occurring in the communication channels.
