A local behavior selection method of mobile robots based on a novel “environment-emotion” model

Human emotion is the middle layer of stimulation and behavior. Inspired by this, a local behavior selection method is proposed based on an "environment emotion" mapping model. Firstly, emotional factors are extracted from the input and stimulation of local environments. These emotional factors are taken into account in the generated artificial emotion. The evaluation mechanism can calculate the tendency of artificial emotion of robot behavior set, and then, its maximum value will be selected. Finally, this artificial emotion method is used to choose the behavior of the robot in three different family environments. Experiments show that this method can simplify the "stimulus behavior" model, which performed well in real-time and robustness. The mobile robot is allowed to select diverse and continuous behaviors, generating a trajectory more in line with human behaviors.
