Analysis of Conventional and FL based MPPT Controllers for a PV Systems

Abstract
A comparison of two Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controllers, based on Fuzzy Logic (FL) and Perturb and Observe (P&O), is presented in this study. The technique is designed and implemented on a solar PV system to check its performance under variable and constant solar irradiation. The goal is to see how well the technique works for different membership functions (MFs) and rule bases in terms of the monitoring the "Maximum Power Point" (MPP). The influence of various rule bases on output power is analyzed using 'Triangular' and 'Gaussian' membership functions in this work. The FLC-based MPPT approach's results are compared to those of the traditional P&O technique. The FLC-based MPPT controller is found to be more effective, stable, and flexible in changing environmental conditions than a P&O technique, in a comparative investigation.
