Magnitude of position-related soft tissue injuries and associated factors among elective adult surgical patients at Tikur anbessa specialized hospital, Addis ababa, Ethiopia

•Magnitude of position-related soft tissue injury assessed at immediate post -operative period was 9.6% in this study.•The BMI <18.5, surgical duration >4 h, prone and lateral positions were independently associated with development of position related soft tissue injury.•Those patients should be identified before surgery and all necessary precaution should be taken.
