Abstract
•3D hollow nano-assemblies as SERS substrates by electrodeposition-galvanic replacement reaction.•The ultra-high sensitivity SERS substrates own enhancement factors as high as 1015.•Analyte contents as low as 10−18M are detected by Au Nanostructured Hollow Octahedra SERS substrate.•After 75 reuses during 100 days, substrates still detect high quality SERS spectra.•A model through Mie's theory and discrete dipole approach accurately confirms results.
