摘要
The implantable durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) program at Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong, has been running since 2010. Whereas the number of implants have increased substantially throughout these ten years, the number of successful heart transplantation has remained static locally. The majority of LVAD implants has served as bridge to heart transplant to cope with the demand of end-stage heart failure. Our outcomes for LVAD implantation and heart transplant are comparable to international standard in the short and medium term. In this presentation of LVAD program in Hong Kong, the selection of patients, their optimization, the operative strategies and outcomes will be discussed.
