Hepatocellular Carcinoma Medical Therapy

Effective systemic therapy of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma is still an unmet need. Two different classes of drugs are currently employed: tyrosine kinase inhibitors and immune checkpoint inhibitors. Combinations of drugs with different mechanisms of action are also emerging as new treatment standards. Predictive biomarkers for the identification of subgroups that will benefit from novel treatment strategies are lacking.
