摘要
•A classical glass composition Zr55Cu30Al10Ni5 is interpreted and optimized using a dual-cluster formula approach.•Multiple glass-forming indicators all point to a 32-atom chemical formula Zr17Cu10Al3Ni2 (Zr53.13Cu31.25Al9.38Ni6.25) as the optimal glass former.•This work confirms the 24-electron rule for metallic glasses.
